Invasion of Sicily

July 1943. Two men of the Corps of Military Police, 30 Corps, 1st Canadian Division, travelling in a truck with a pet dog called Fritzie. Two long shots of Sherman tanks of the 1st Canadian Division on a hillside in front of the small town of Valguarnera. Tanks moving up to cross the Gari River

During Operation Diadem (Fourth Battle of Monte Cassino) Canadian Sherman tanks move up towards the River Gari (also known as the Rapido) in Frosinone, Lazio, Italy bridged the previous night by Indian Engineers of the Bengal Sappers and Miners, as part of 8th Indian Division’s assault of the Gustav Line.
